meşin kaplı kitap
-
bir nazim hikmet ran siiri;
" yaldızlı meşin kabı
parçalanmış kitabı
ay altında dün gece
deli bir derviş gibi
mumu sönmüş rahlesi yere devrilmiş gibi
okudum saatlerce
yaldızlı meşin kabın
parçalanmış koynunda uyuklayan kitabın
çevirdikçe küf kokan her sarı yaprağını
sandımki eşiyorum bir mezar toprağını
ince el yazıları canlandı birer birer
masallarda çizilen yüzleri gösterdiler
iblis bir yılan oldu adem havvaya kandı
kardeşini öldüren lanetli ruhu gördüm
koca yahta bir gemi ummanlarda çalkandı
ufuklardan güvercin bekleyen nuh'u gördüm
ismaili'in topuğu kumdan çıkardı zemzem
tur-u sina da musa kaldırdı kollarını
asasını vurunca yarıdı bahr-i kulzem
buldu ben-i israil kudüs'ün yollarını
zekeriya zikrini
bir sonsuz aha verdi
doğdu isa bikrini
meryem allah'a verdi
kureyş-i muhammed'e kucak açtı medine
yine biz esir geçen her günün akşamında
eve sade bir lokma ekmek getiriyoruz
gece yağmur inlerken evimizin damında
isınabilmek için güneşi bekler gibi
birbirine sokulan hasta köpekler gibi
yırtık yorganımızın altında titriyoruz
çiftimiz balyozumuz sonsuz çalışmamızla
asırlardır bağrında inleyen kazmamızla
heyecana geldide kara toprağın kalbi
kendini teslim eden taze bir kadın gibi
çiçeklerle donandı dünya isimli ağaç
biz bu ağacımızın dibinde ölürken aç
efendiler gösterip sırıtan dişlerini
birer birer topluyor bütün yemişlerini
efendiler ağalar evliyalar keşişler
ebedi karanlığın boğulsun kollarında
artık temiz ruhların aydınlık yollarında
sade bir din bir hak bir kanun varsa
o da işleyen dişliler " -

cesur ve açık bir şiir. -
nâzım hikmet’in on dokuz(19) yaşında yazdığı, isyanla gerçekleri dile getirdiği şiiri.
-
the leather-bound book
last night under the moonlight for hours
i read the book
with a tattered gilded leather cover
like a moonstruck dervish
as if his candle had gone out
and his lectern had tilted over.
as ı turned each faded, fusty page of the book
that snoozed in the tattered bosom of the gilded leather cover
i thought i was digging up a grave
the thin letters of the cursive came to life
one after the other.
they showed me the fairytale faces
satan became a serpent, adam believed eve
i saw the cursed soul that killed his own brother
a big wooden ship was tossed about by the ocean
and i saw noah expecting a dove from the horizon
ismaili’s heels made zamzam spring from the sand
moses lifted his arms on the mount sinai
and divided the red sea with his staff
and benjamin found the way to jerusalem
zechariah gave his voice
for an endless sigh
jesus was born
and mary gave her maidenhead to god.
medina embraced the qureshi mohammad
karbala became a fiery tomb for husayn.
as the pages kept turning
all these rose and fell one by one
the moon set and the sun rose
a fire rose in my heart
i threw the book
with the tattered gilded leather cover
into a dump well
so that it would sink into an eternal sleep.
a shame, a shame to us who were deceived for ages
just to see the marks drawn in darkness
to see and worship them
a shame, a shame to us who burnt like a kindle
neither salvation came upon us from the heavens
nor a piece of mercy,
jesus, moses and mohammed gave nothing more
than a few words of prayer, some incence and charm
to the toiling slaves
and showed the ways to the fairytale heavens
neither the five-time prayer nor the angelus bells
saved the poor workers from their chains.
we are still slaves and we have our masters
and a wall of damned mossy bricks
named the people of the earth slaves and masters
and seperated them into two clusters.
the master still exploits and the slave toils
the toiling slave does not get even crumbs
of the master’s snow-white bread or wine-filled glass
served on silver trays
and we still can bring home only a piece of bread
at the end of every day spent in thrall
as the rain whimpers on our roof during the night
we shiver under our ragged blankets
waiting for the sun to make us warm
nestling together like sick dogs
with our plough, sledgehammer and endless toil
with our pickax beating its bosom for ages
the heart of the black soil stirred
and the tree named earth was covered with flowers
like a maiden committing herself
as we die of hunger under this tree
masters pick all its fruits one by one
showing their smirking teeth
let the masters landlords saints monks
smother in the arms of eternal darkness
now on the sunlit roads of pure souls
there is only one religion, one truth and one law
that is the turning cogwheels.
