  “hypertrace” is the debut studio album by scanner, released through noise records in april 1988 and produced by frank bornemann , tommy newton (engineer, mixing) & bernd schmidt, ralf krause (engineers).
  
  this is a concept album and is related to a fantastic story, during the world war ıı, in which the army (ı don’t know exactly which side’s army…) created a selected commando team of seven ex-convicted men, who are genetically transformed.
  
  the purpose (with some scientific help) was the creation of an absolute war machine but these mutant soldiers used their special high skills against their commanders. all these rebellions (mutant soldiers) had to be destroyed/killed (“grapes of fear”), so each of them were launched into self – igniting rockets, straight into space to get burned….
  
  one of the rockets had mechanical problems, so that specific mutant was saved, but trapped inside the rocket (“locked out”, additional vocals fromralf scheepers) and was actually condemned to an eternal circle all around the space (“across the universe”). five years later, 3 alien wizards found him and helped him to survive (“wizard force”). the condition of this ex-convicted man, with the name “scanner”, was too bad; he was almost insane and the only thing that he wanted to do was to get revenge. aliens converted his hate into an aiming feeling (“retaliation positive”). they gave him an artificial world (“galactos”), in which he could organize all his operations.
  
  he travelled to earth on “warp 7”, quicker than the speed of light, to investigate the situation and he made up a specific plan: he would create five androids, which would go back to earth, at five different moments during the last fifty years, to gather information about the human’s aggression and wars (“killing fields”). the five androids send back all the information through a special system, with which scanner could watch and control the whole situation (“reticular module unit”). his highest aim was to change earth into a perfect world, in which there would be no hate and no war (“terrion”).
  
  ıt has to be mentioned that the song “galactos” is a bonus track in japanese version, because it was recorded later than others and, also, there are some differences in the sound. moreover, track listing and story don’t fit together. the most suitable order of the songs is the following:
